A Little Humor

This is our family's way of keeping a little humor in the holidays.
Our daughter-in-law always makes sure "LEON" is in place on the mantle for the holidays.
Who in the heck is LEON???? That is our little secret!!!

WOYWW

I made some "bead key rings" for small gifts this year. I have used mine for several years and it is always easy to find in my purse. It is an easy project with 20 gauge wire and beads. You can buy the rings in a package at the hobby store. I  love putting the colors together; the only catch is, the hole in the bead has to be big enough for the wire to go through. There are several people over on Julie's

site to share with; have a look.

Geese or gourds???

Have you ever seen a gaggle
of gourds??  They look like they have been around for a few years. Each one has her own personality. These are sitting proudly on a neighbor's porch.

Surprise Package!!

Look what I got today in the mail today from my favorite sister-in-law!!
Its a good thing that it was in one of those flat rate boxes, because it was very heavy.
I will have to gift the postman with something special for lugging this around.
Can't wait to dive into it. Doesn't take much to get me excited. I love to take something old, and make it new again!  Recycle, up-cycle, refurbish, re-purpose, whatever...pardon me while I go play.

WOYWW already!!

This past week has been wonderful, but seemed to fly by. Had a wonderful time with the family for Thanksgiving. Now it is back to work!
My desk today is full of many projects. I am "thinking" about Christmas cards...I know, it is late.
Some jewelry to go to the co-op. Santa Clause with his red tennis shoes on; he is going to help me get it all done. Please go over to Julie's site and see what others are doing. Maybe they are more organized that I am. I plan on using the plastic snowflake ornament for a stencil, as well as the red cardboard with the holes, when I try out my Gelli plate. The photo in the frame is going to the Gallery today. The little tiny frame on the right is probably 100 years old. It is very fragile. It needs a new mylar insert to protect the picture. Today is a good day!

WOYWW

My desk has not been this clean for months. It looks nice, but it means there are no projects are going on.
What it does mean, is that my favorite people are coming to have Thanksgiving dinner with us; 4 children and 7 of the 8 grandchildren, and various other relatives.
There are some ornaments on the left ; the little bottle with a picture and glitter, made by friend Dixie.  Also a Kelly Rae Roberts candle. I made the tree from sheet music. I love my "glove in the bottle", and my tacky glue! Peacock feathers inspire me; the barn "purse" was painted back in the early 70s, when I took some classes in decorative painting from Gerry Klein, back in St. Louis. I use it to hold wet wipes. The pencils are handy for my little artist, grand daughter who will be here. They are in a leather holder made by son, Chris. "Believe" of course, is what I do every day. The water color on the wall is one of my favorite paintings. If you want to see what others are busy doing this Holiday week, go to Julie's site and click on a name.

Happy Thanksgiving

I am folding up the studio to get ready for guest for Thanksgiving.
My lady stands here wearing some of my favorite things.
The lace is being added to a blouse. I wore all the pearls downtown for Ladies Night Out, along with the "wings on a heart". The sparkly thing on the belt is a flask belt buckle, and the angel reminds me that Chrisrmas will be here soon. These are a few of my favorite things, as the song goes. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Count your blessings, and be grateful every day for friends and family, and everything the good Lord gives us.

I have been busy in the workshop, drilling, and cutting with my Dremel.
There is so much that you can do with a Dremel; I just have to learn how to do it!
These are some of my creations that have been in my head for awhile, and just now getting them put together. I'm wearing my "wings" tonight for "Girl's Night" Out in downtown Georgetown.

WOYWW

What are you up to? I just made a veggie casserole with those wonderful veggies I received.
I used the eggplant, peppers, 1 jalapeno, onion, sweet potato, and diced tomatoes. Put a little cheese on top and baked for 40 min.
My desk is still full of jewelry pieces. I am on a push to get a few more pieces made before I put it away for the Thanksgiving Holiday. My family is pretty understanding, but I am beginning to take over every room in the house with my various supplies. Be sure to go to Julie's site and check out what others are doing.

Fall Gardens

Such a pretty site! Our neighbor has gifted us with several eggplants. I usually just slice them into a 13X9 dish, add some diced tomatoes and lot of herbs and spices, maybe a jalapeno, chopped really fine. Add some nice shredded cheese on top and bake for about 40 minutes. That is my slimmed down version of eggplant Parmesan. Another friend dropped off some peppers from her garden. I have already used several of these. Don't they look pretty in this wire and bead wrapped basket? This basket was fun to make and looks good too.

WOYWW= What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

It is sure good to be home after a long trip. I usually drop everything on my desk. I did some crocheting while I was gone. I made a market bag that turned out a little too big. Also bought a big box of stamps; left most of them with our granddaughter. I kept an alphabet, and some "word sayings". On the right is a small journal that granddaughter and I add to every time we visit. Be sure to check out the desks on Julie's blog to see what others are doing this Wednesday.

Gratitude Every Day

Gratitude every day will change your life. I am joining many others here to share the many reasons to be grateful. I am so grateful that we got to travel at this time of year and see the beautiful Fall leaves, the tranquility of the Indiana farmland, and the amazing hills in Ohio. I am thankful for God's great earth, family and friends that we visited. Why not join us at Gale's site  and express your gratitude? Before long you will find that you are healthy, happy, and filled with peace and love, that you can pass on to others. Here are some of the beautiful trees.

Fun with Family

Nothing can compare to the fun with family; something we would like to have a lot more of.
Lots of laughter  and good times; delicious food, and of course plenty of wine. The trees are all beautiful with their Fall colors. This would make a pretty painting.

WOYWW

I still have beads on my desk and I have been very busy.
This is one of my favorites, I like it because it is round (my favorite shape), and it is blue (my favorite color),
and  is fairly simple, so it can be worn with anything.
The bracelet is a variety of lavender and purple beads, and the eyeglass beaded chain was made for my sis.
Be sure to check with Julie and see what others are doing.

WOYWW

My desk is full of beads again. I decided to make some bracelets with my pretty beads.
The tub you see on the left is only a smidgen of my bead supply. I love all the colors, and love even more, finding just the right ones to use. There is always a surprise down in the bottom if you dig around.
You can also see I am still working on the flasks, sitting in front of my "Believe" sign.
Go here to see what is going on at Julie's blog. It is the doorway to much activity.
If you look closely, you can see the Christmas tree made out of a music sheet, and I love my "glove in a bottle"

Burano lace

I am so excited to tell everyone about the beautiful Burano lace scarf, that I won by taking a virtual trip to Italy with Dreama. She sent many pictures along the way, even some videos, and had a few contest to win hand painted post cards, and other gift items from Italy. I was the lucky one who won the scarf. It will be perfect for this Texas weather. Sometimes the air conditioned buildings are just too cold.
You can see Dream's  beautiful work here, and if you want to go on her travels with her, let her know. My scarf is the lightest of gold, green, and purple...Beautiful!

Thank you Dreama!!

WOYWW

I have been in a flurry making cards, among other things of course.
I showed the beginnings of a messy, card making desk 2 weeks ago.
Today, I can say that some of them turned out so well that  I would like to get one in the mail myself!
I love the purple and gold ones, and the square format. The front is acrylic painted squares; tangled with a white Signo pen, as well as writing on the sympathy card. The flowers are watercolor. Be sure to check out Julie's desk, and many others around the world to see what they are doing.

WOYWW

Where did Wednesday go? I had to be at the imaging office for some x-rays which took half a day, so I guess that is where my Wednesday went. Anyway, I want to show what I have been working on this past week.
Frills in Taylor, TX is sponsoring "Bras for a Cause". Local artist and businesses, really anyone with an artistic flair, is decorating a bra to be auctioned off. The money of course will go to breast cancer research.
It promises to be a fun evening with some brave souls modeling the bras. I found a leopard bra, with blue trim, so I decorated it with my tiny hand made flowers in aqua, and lots of bling. Purple beads around the bottom finish it off. Too cute! Of course I titled it "In Full Bloom". It's not too late to see what everyone else is doing. Go to Julie's and have a look around.

WOYWW

Today is Wednesday, and that means we show our desk and what we have been doing in our creative life, along with all the others over on Julie's site here.
I use my own hand made greeting cards for our friends and family throughout the year; I suddenly realized that I was out of cards. I got out all my card making supplies and went to work.

There is a finished one there in the background. It is an acrylic background with white pen used to draw the flowers.

Estate Sales

I love to go to Estate sales. In a way it is sad to see everything being sold off, especially when the old gentleman is sitting there on the sofa while you are going through his things. Estate sales usually have all those "junk drawer" items, which have usually been in hiding for many years, only to be gotten out to get rid of, as well as the antiques etc. We don't have room for any more furniture, but I picked up these pillow cases with beautiful lace edging, that you just don't see any more. I also found a tiny baby fork that matches my sterling pattern. There are no babies in the immediate future, so I might use it in my jewelry making....then again, maybe
not. At least that was my excuse to buy it. :>)

WOYWW

What's On Your Work desk Wednesday?
Hard to believe it is Wednesday so soon.
I have been very busy as you can see by the pictures.
As usual my interest have varied; from flasks to necklaces and back again.
These four flasks will go with me to The Co-op at Gallery Off The Square.
One of the necklaces still needs a little work.
Be sure to go over to Julie's  and see what is new on the Stamping Grounds site.
