Road Trip

Spent the day driving from Alabama straight up I 64 through beautiful Tenn. (no Elvis sightings ! )
On up through Kentucky, with all the horse farms and white fencing. and then into Indiana where we will hang out for a few days. I grew up along the Wabash River, and the farms and farmlands are beautiful this time of year.  Red barns, tall green corn, and freshly cut  yellow hay fields make me want to bring out the paints and canvas.  We will be heading to Charlie's Carmel Corn Store that has been here forever !! Yum yum !

Surprise !

I had a nice surprise yesterday when I opened the July-August issue of Cloth,Paper,Scissors international publication. http://www.clothpaperscissors.com
There is an article on the Pendant Swap sponsored by the magazine a couple of months ago. My Red Poppy Pendant is shown on page 83 ! It is fun to see something you created in print in an international magazine !! I posted a picture of it right here in my blog on June 9th (side bar ).  Several of these pendants have sold here in a local gift shop, Wonderful Things. http://www.wonderfulthingsonline.com
They are fun to paint and each one turns out a little different. I wear mine on a ball chain, but a cord works just fine also. Maybe I'd better open that etsy shop and put them in.
I'm off to play princess with my granddaughter. We all have to dress like a princess to play the Board game. She has a great imagination !

Breathless...

I am still breathless...About an hour after I posted my birdhouse, I was cleaning out old files from the computer, since we are getting a new one. I found  an unnamed,  file01. When I opened the file it said:
"I am enjoying the birdies and the blooms. Love, Mary Sue
Mary Sue, my younger sister, died of cancer in 2002 at the age of 49.
Do you believe in messages from heaven??

No Room in the Inn

I woke up this morning to the birds chirping outside my window; there was quite a commotion. I guess they were spreading the word that the Inn is full. Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall? I love to watch the birds, and the squirrels, and listen to their chatter. We had a heavy rain the other night, so everything is very green.

Sunday, A day of rest

Enjoyed an early Mexican dinner with some of the family. My children gave me a lounge chair for my birthday. Are they trying to tell me something ? I brought it right into my studio so I can sit back and relax, meditate, and get all kinds of creative ideas.
I am taking an e-course (Flying Lessons)from Kelly Rae Roberts. It is so good and has given me much to think about. You can find her here. www.kellyraeroberts.blogspot.com

Haven't figured out the photo thing yet (sizing etc.) but I will find out how to do it this week.

Spent the morning at Wonderful Things in Georgetown. www.wonderfulthingsonline.com
They are selling Dillapeno Caviar now, from Smither Family Kitchen in Houston. Ashley Smither Langley just happens to be my sweet daughter-in-law. It is a sweet, hot, dill, relish, so good in so many dishes. We served it on cream cheese with crushed smoked almonds on top. Add the crackers; yum yum.
I came home and made egg salad with Dillapeno in it !
Try a jar from Wonderful Things, or order from www.smitherfamilykitchen.com

Now its off to the studio to paint.

Hey there ! Finally did it ! I blog !
Jumped in the pool with all those other bloggers.
Anxious to meet other artists and compare notes,
enter challenges, and all the other fun things that
happen as a result of blogging.
I'm in a "red" mood because some artists friends
and I just displayed our "red" art downtown on
a beautiful old concrete wall in one of the historic
buildings near the business Scentchips.
