Marinating

I read yesterday on one of my favorite blogs, about "creative meditation".
This is time away from blog land to think, experiment, and marinate.
As Sue says, "It is better than a therapist".
With that in mind, I will be doing a little marinating.
I will be back renewed, and refreshed, so don't go away for good, I won't!

Sunday garden

We have had some wonderful rains here in Central Texas this summer so the flowers are blooming.
There are some pretty colors here in the front. Notice the small gazing ball; I will tell you how I made it in a later post.I don't feel like I have a very "green thumb", because I would rather be painting, or making jewelry, rather than digging in the dirt. Our neighborhood cat is ailing and has to stay inside, so I get to feed the birds again. We love to watch them mill around the feeder. Well, we no longer had a feeder, so the
creativity came bubbling up once again. I turned the squirrel guard upside down, drilled 4 holes around the edges and put those Mardi Gras beads to work holding it. So far, so good; the birds love it, and it is easy to fill..

Friday on the square

Another great music performance. Tonight is was the Georgetown Fire Department Pipes and Drums.
They were very entertaining. They also brought the fire truck that had gone to New York on 9-11, to help out. There was a big crowd enjoying the evening on the square.

21 Secrets

I have been slowly working my way through the lessons in 21 Secrets. I am stuck now on Hali Karla.
I love what she does, and what she says. I have tried to paint and collage intuitively, however I still feel like I am thinking too much. I will say that the colors I ended up with on these pages, is totally different than what I usually use, so maybe it is working. I am going to try it one more time before I move on.

Yum yum!

Breakfast at Pecan Manor B & B today. Of course we had mimosas with our french toast smothered with pears and strawberries and just a touch of maple syrup. Such creative people made good conversation. We each received a wine glass made especially for us from Karen. Janetta sure knows how to put on a party!

WOYWW

Wow! I haven't been around for awhile, but I just happen to have something very special on my desk today!
My new Koi travel watercolors, and a journal that I made from one sheet of Fabriano 140# watercolor paper. It is about 5X7 and is tied with sari ribbon. Can't wait to use them both; I think they will fit right in my suitcase. To see what others are doing this summer, be sure to check out Julie's blog at www.stamping-ground.blogspot.com  Artists don't take the summer off.

Music on the Square

We live in such a neat place! Every Friday evening during the summer we have music on the courthouse lawn. Tonight was Englebert Humperdink, Neil Diamond and Marilyn Monroe! I will bet the guy who sang was not even born when these guys were famous, but he did a wonderful job! He had the audience singing along, and of course we all knew the words. I was once in love with Englebert; I used to sit in front of the TV and swoon. His voice was like velvet. Marilyn sang Happy Birthday to several people, and passed out rings to the ladies, because "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend". A wonderful place to meet friends and neighbors.

Pouring my Paint!!

I have been having a ball pouring paint. Sue Nosler Gray has a few videos on the subject.
She explains the process very well, as she demos, and gives lots of information about  the elements of art.
You can find a "You tube" video here that will give you a taste of the fun that can be had. Go Sue !!

Fourth Fun

We had a great time at the lake. I took my sketch book, pencils, and paints, but we had so much fun visiting  and swimming that I didn't get any art done. The weather was wonderful; had a great North wind to keep us cool. One evening was "hat night", so you had to wear one of the many hats available in order to get some dinner. King Tut even came! There was a marvelous fire work display on the water, all up and down the lake.
