Asian Art

This is a 11X14 collage. I love the simplicity of the Oriental look.

Asian Art

Since I forgot my cord to transfer photos to the computer, I thought I would post some of my favorite Asian art. Sometimes I wonder if I had a previous life in the Orient; I love everthing about Asian art.
This  piece is a 12X12 wood panel collaged first with varies papers, then painted with several layers of acrylic, rubbing some for antique effect. Finally a circle, ( a symbol of Peace and Unity, to me) was applied with a heavy gel medium. It was then rubbed with gold to help it stand out. I also used a hand carved stamp to the left of the circle. I invited others to place theire finger on the circle and slowly move it around the circle, which proved to be a great stress reliever. My granddaughter loved the piece, so I gave it to her. It makes me feel good to know that she has something special to help out, especially if I'm not around to give a comforting word.

Art Doll

I had a great time making this little doll necklace, after taking an on-line workshop on

JoAnna Perotti's site. She is so clever, and quite a talented artist. I enjoyed learning each step necessary to complete this little beauty. JoAnna embellishes hers with vintage laces, but I have not done that yet, and may not. I like it the way it is!

Word for the New Year

Instead of a New Year's resolution, I have chosen a word for 2013. It is "emergence". It came to me after reading a magazine article.  I am still sorting out it's meaning , to understand it to the full extent, but simply put, it is  an unexpected result from some simple things coming together. ie. clouds, water, freezing temp = beautiful snowflake! I am going to remain open to all of my artistic life experiences coming together to form something new and unexpected. Who knows, I might create a masterpiece! At least it is fun to think about the possibilities.

Special gifts

Thank you, to two special artist friends, for these very creative ornaments.
I will keep them in my studio year round because I like them so much, and
I will think of my friends every time I see them.
