Looking for sunshine!

Texas needs some sun! I'm not use to these dull dreary days. Painting sunshine helps!

# 16 Mandala, all curves

It is funny how color makes the patterns look different. These are paints from my travel kit.
They are Koi watercolors. OK, but not real exciting.

Floral Mandala # 12

I love these colors together, and of course I love flowers, so it made a perfect combo.
Working with my Daler-Rowney watercolors.

Mandala Sunshine

It has been raining every day for 3 weeks now; we need a little sunshine!
Maybe this sunshine mandala will help.

Primary colors with a touch of violet on the dots.
Working towards 100; there I said it, now I have to keep up!

I love the soft colors in this one. American Journey watercolors from Cheap Joes.

Another view

Sometimes after looking at a piece for awhile, you realize that it needs more. I enhanced this mandala with my Pigma pen.
I think it looks much better.

To paint or not to paint??

#8 looks much better in black and white. Sorry I painted it, but I'm sure I can make another one.

Mandala # 7

Quinacridone Colors were used for # 7 Mandala. I'm beginning to enjoy this.
These colors have such vibrancy!

Mandala # 6

Using Holbein warercolors I filled in #6. I recognize that most of these colors are more opaque than transparent.

MaimeriBlu Mandala

I switched to my Faber Castell Pitt pen with  MaimeriBlu paints.
Circles and curves are predominate in my madalas. I might force myself to use some straight lines in the next one. I think every
one has their own personal mark makings.

Addicting!

I decided to add some line and circles to the birthday mandala. I like it better this way.
I used a Pigma micron 01, and a Sanford uni ball gel pen in gold. Very easy to carry with me, as I didn't need my paints to make it beautiful! The Canson mixed media 9X12  spiral works just great for this.

Maribu Mandala

Maibu opaques were used for this Mandala. I tend to like the transparent paints best;
they just look livelier! There is a silver and a gold in this pan set which will come in handy.

A Birthday Mandala

This mandala is for my sister who is celebrating her birthday in Heaven.
I miss her, and know how she loved her flowers in her yard.
She use to sit out in the yard in the evening to see the flower that only blooms at night!
I used Daniel Smith paints for this one.

Mandalas

I love making mandalas. I will try to do one a day in my sketchbook.
By painting them with different kinds of paint, they can also serve as
a reference guide as to color, transparancy etc.
I used a Micron 01 for the outline, and Twinkling warercolors!

Red Poppies

Poppy time is just about over for this year. They were very plentiful, especially in Old Town where the people let them propagate from year to year. Some yards were completely full; beautiful! The plein air painters are up and down the street today capturing  memories.
