Impressionist and others

I spent a delightful day with my daughter-in-law strolling through Monet's garden and over the Japanese  footbridge.
Well, not really, but we did see Monet, Renoir, Degas, Manet, Van Gogh, and many of their friends. There is a wonderful show at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. "Impressionist and Post-Impressionist Masterpieces from the National Gallery of Art. It was great to get up close and see those impressive  brush strokes. A new feature (at least for us) was the ability to call a number on your cell phone and get some information on several of the pieces, as you stand in front of them. Wonders never cease!

Doodle, doodle

This is one of my favorite activities. Doodles on an old music sheet creates interesting patterns.
You can do it anywhere (easily portable) and there is no "right way" or "wrong way" to it.
I was gifted with a lot of old music books, so I use them  for many projects.
I thought the name Rhythm Study was apropos for this piece.

Spring has sprung!

We have been very busy this last week greeting spring. Spent one day in the yard and another washing all the winter dust off the house. We have 27 windows in this little house; I like to see the flowers blooming and the trees starting to bud, so you know what that means, get out the Windex pads and the hose and go to work!
The geraniums are beautiful this year, so the blue and white pots got filled. After all the work is done, we sit on the front porch and enjoy life.

Journal

 Saw this journal folder in Cloth, Paper,Scissors last evening. I don't know what got into me, but I just had to try to make one.. The sewing machine has been in the back of the closet for years, but this project is just what I needed, to see if I liked sewing on paper! I did like it, so will probably be doing some more. The article was written by Heidi Sekovski and Karin Winter, and I basically followed their directions, using some scrapbook papers that I had in my stash. Next time I will probably make my own collage papers, but was anxious to get started sewing. There is actually a lot more to this project. The pages need to be decorated, as well as some cards made, to slip in the pockets. You will probably see it again when I get further along. It will be used to journal a special event in my life.

More jewelry

Here are a couple more pendants made from "found" objects.
 It is hard to stop putting these together.
Each one I design gives me an idea for another one.

I am so grateful to my friends and family when they send along game pieces to by recycled.
My sister sent this box of dominoes all the way from Washington State, and another friend made a domino donation just yesterday.  The smallest ones here are scrabble pieces and rumikub. I had never heard of the game tri-ominoes, but I found the triangle pieces in a thrift shop. These are fun to paint and quite popular. I am going to have so many of these soon, that I will have to think about opening an Etsy store.
