Wedding Bells

This is my grandmother, Marie, on her wedding day. It looks like she might have had a veil that went to the floor.
Her groom seems to be there in the background, but I didn't focus on him when I made this piece.
Using what I learned in KC's workshop I started with a photo transfer and then applied old, and made to look old, fabrics and lace. I used the lace on the left to replicate her veil that I love so much. This piece is about 9X12. My idea was to glue it on top of a box so that I could put her treasures inside, however it turned out too special to glue down; can't do that just yet. I will probably make another one for the box.
I thought it an excellent way to keep track of who's stuff is who's!! I think our children would appreciate that.

Beautiful!

I have been busy working on a few collages inspired by KC Willis. I will post them when they get closer to being finished, however for now I wanted to say that "I think Magnolia flowers are BEAUTIFUL no matter what stage they are in". My neighbor has some trees; very often early in the morning she will bring me a blossom or two. I love to watch them open, and the color change from white, to cream, to a gorgeous tan color, all within a day.I tried to paint a watercolor of one, and I could not paint fast enough! They start dropping their center within minutes of being off the tree. The leaves are pretty also; they are like little flying saucers. You might notice the lovely vase my hubby gave me. He is very creative.

Leather work

This is the leather work of one of our sons. He enjoys making these for family and friends.
I was gifted with this one last weekend. It fits over a 16oz cup, and I always know which one is mine.
The smaller version fits on a beverage can. He is self taught, and only gets better as he does more of them.

Friendship

A nice way to say " Our friendship is special"; it is a card, and a small work of art. You can put it on an easel or even frame it. This is a KC Willis inspiration; she is so creative with fabric and paper. I plan to make some more of these, as I am all out of greeting cards. I usually have a big stash in my card box.

Love and Peace

I just sent these off to my sister-in-law. She wanted to say Peace and Love to two friends.
They make a nice little gift with a heartfelt message.
This is alcohol ink on a domino, and of course stamped letters.
I'm putting those dominoes to good use!

I'm lovin it!

Sewing paper and fabric; it is new for me, and fun to do! This piece has several different papers, and some fabric on the heart. It will look nice with a black background of canvas or wood. There are plenty of collage papers in my studio, not much fabric. Maybe I should clean out my closet; I might find a treasure for my next collage. Recycle is good!

Beautiful Clark Mansion

Clark Mansion in Taylor, TX where our workshop was held was truly beautiful! A friend ask me what it was like, so I thought I would post a couple of pictures that I took inside the house. There is wonderful warm woodwork throughout the home. Both pictures were taken near the staircase. We had our class in what is known as the ballroom.  There is also an oil painting of the home.

Fabric Collage is amazing!

What a great weekend at a beautiful mansion, for a collage class with a great lady!
KC Willis shared her love for collage with a group of kindred spirits.
She brought her stash of fabrics, papers, jewels etc. for us to dig through and use,
as we followed her lead and instruction, and made some amazing art. I brought home 3 pieces that just need a few finishing touches. This is so different from anything that I have done; it was good to try something new.
Here we are in front of Clark Mansion. Sherrie lives here and manages all the fun. She is a great hostess, as well as a wonderful cook, and the food presentation was beautiful.

Follow the Leader

This week has just flown by and I think I have Spring fever!
Can't seem to get anything constructive done.
I am pumped up about the KC Willis workshop this weekend.
You will get to see what I make next week.
Since I'm not having much luck accomplishing anything I decided to follow the advice on this little sign.

Busy hands

You just can't leave me alone with a Sharpie and a blank space! Look what happened to my perfectly good white tennis shoes. These are leather tennis shoes that I really didn't wear that much because I think white makes my feet look longer than they already are, so while we were visiting with the grand kids last week, I took advantage of the extra time away from my studio, and decorated my shoes. I like them better now. Who knows, maybe it will become a new craze!

A Good Message

I try to live my life with this idea in mind.
Worrying doesn't help, and happiness is contagious!
