The hope flag project

Just finished my flags to be sent to the hope flag project.
Such a good idea. There is a post on Facebook that
tells all about it. I had to work fast to beat the deadline,
and with the holidays, it was quite a feat. I got it done and it feels good!
They will certainly brighten someone's day.

Smither Park

Another peek at Smither Park in Houston.
I just wish I lived closer so that I could participate in the
building of this gorgeous wall!

Beautiful site!!

Guess where I am? So much to see, I would like to stay all day.
So much creativity just bursting out from the walls. If you guessed Smither Park, you are right.
The creativity goes on and on, and it is not even finished yet. There is so much more to do.

You can read all about it here.

Sweets

These  little jewels are so easy to make, and sooo good.
It was just another way to use the wonderful pecans from
our yard. Mini pretzel on the bottom, Rolo on top; put this in oven at 250 degrees
for 3 minutes (until melted). Top with pecan half. Put in fridge to firm up, and enjoy!
These were supposed to be given away, but they were just too good. I will have to make
 more for friends.

This wreath is probably 25 years old, but it is just as beautiful today as it was
when I made it. We had an abundance of pine cones and pods in the area, and this was a great way to use them. There are even some peach seeds and pecans on it. I used hot glue on a hard foam ring about 20 inches in diameter. I'm a little surprised that it is still in one piece, but it was stored in a wreath box, which I guess helped. I like the natural look without a bow.

Early Santa

Look what Santa brought me! I am so excited.
My wonderful husband knew that I wanted some boots, so
we went to the Western store and there they were waiting for me.
I especially like the two-tone and the crosses.
This wall hanging is one of my favorites, It is small and fairly simple, but I like it.

Texas Santa

Here in Texas, Santa wears red tennis shoes instead of black boots.
He is so cute, I just had to have him out, even if Beanies have gone

by the way side. I'm in love with his red tennies!
Does anyone remember these trees made with paper mache egg
cartons? This goes way back, but as you can see, it is still in very good shape.

I have always loved miniatures, so this is one of my favorites.

Christmas decorating

I like to decorate with my very favorite pieces.
We no longer put up a big tree, but there are some special
things that I enjoy getting out each year. Because my Mother died
last May, I have a few of her favorites to add to my collection.
She made the ceramic tree, and  the village pieces came from her stash.
The Santa bell is kinda special also.

Fun paper boxes!

I had intended to show some diagrams that show how to
make a paper box, however in looking around on the Internet,
I found this very good video on You tube ... http://youtu.be/bBf957XC-4k
I believe it is part of the Etsy web site.
I started with a 12 X 12 sheet of heavier paper to end up with a 4 X 4 size box.
You can really make them any size, as long as you keep it square. The video explains it much better than I ever could. Good luck and have fun; remember it's only paper! Some friends and I used
some painted watercolor paper to make one. You could also use wallpaper.
I also put a contrasting color piece of paper in the bottom just for fun.

Fabric flower + Boxes= Something Good!

I was looking for a way to use some of the fabric flowers that I had made several months ago.
I also needed some small boxes for Christmas gifts.
This is what I came up with; I think they are pretty neat!
The boxes are easy to make, and the flower can either be glued on the box, or clipped on.

Tomorrow, I will try to explain how I made the boxes.

More pears

I took the first 3 pears to the Taylor ornament sale, so I made some more to have around here.
They are not your typical red and green, but I like them.
The first one has Epson salts "snow" with poke-a-dots on silver; the middle one is silver, white and turquoise on black.
The last one has black paint pen doodles on gold, with white dimensional paint

Creativity

Getting ready to make some more Christmas ornaments.
I love the pears! They are fun to decorate.
I might even use these pendants as ornaments for the

"art" tree.

Guess who's coming to town!!
It is 82 degrees here today. Santa may have a
little trouble with his sleigh. I'm not complaining.
It is a beautiful day to sit on the front porch

and swing, and make out my Christmas list.
