Granddaughter visiting! We watched the filming of a movie all day, right down the street; took about 12 hours for a few scenes. It sure was interesting, and helps me understand the price of a good movie these days.
A lot of visiting with neighbors, snacking, drinking lemonade; well at least it looked like lemonade!
What rhymes with Senorita?? :>)

Looking back
I was looking in my supply closet, and happened upon these cards. I have had them for about 15 years. They were printed in 1987 for Intervisual Communications, Inc. They are reproductions from the famous antique picture books created by Ernest Nister in England in the 1890's.
Each has a very simple message inside. There is a pull tab on the picture; when pulled down the picture changes.
I probably should start sending these cards. They aren't doing anyone any good in my closet. Hope the pictures
show them off somewhat.

What is this??
I know this looks like a major wreck, or pile up, as they say; this photo has been dubbed the "beer float" because there is a floating cooler somewhere in that mess.
This is only part of the fun we had a few weeks ago. With temperatures at or above 100 degrees for many days, the lake was a good place to be. Everyone had a float and was able to stay cool and visit. So much fun, so little time.

Lap Quilt
I promised a few posts back that I would share one of my sister's beautiful quilts.
This lap quilt was gifted to me. She knows that I love blue, and also the old masters. She calls this one Starry,Starry Night.
I don't know if that is the official name of the pattern, but I love it, and use it often, and of course think of her and all the hard work and design that went into making it.

Dixie's Chick
It is possible that the newest longhorn and I share a birthday! She was there when they checked on the herd on Wednesday. She sure is a cutie, as you can see. All of the other "girls" are very protective of her, and formed a circle around her.
These sunflowers are so big and beautiful! They came from the local flower market; I thought about getting out the paints and palette, but a celebration was being planned. When you have been married to the same guy for 50 years, that is something to crow about! The bluebells were picked out in the field.

Busy Bee
My last post was a week ago. Since then I have gotten a year older; we had a wonderful celebration with family members in honor of 50 years of marriage. Still can't believe that, but it's true. Also carrying around a big black boot on my left foot, as a result of falling in the produce isle at our local grocery store. My hubby dubbed me "Produce Patty"! So you see, I really do have a good excuse for not being here.
My sister and brother-in-law were here from WA. We took a day trip to Salado and stopped in the quilt shop.
I got some beautiful fabrics to use on my Madonna series. The men sat outside on a bench and waited patiently while we looked at every piece of fabric in the store. Can't wait to get creative in my studio. Sister Kay also brought me some old lace and old fabric that she had in her stash. She makes beautiful quilts; I will show you one soon. Also enjoyed showing my brother and sister-in-law from OHIO, our great little city. Wow, I've been busy; makes me tired thinking about it. I will get some rest and fill you in on other things in a day or two.

Small Things
Sometimes good things do come in small packages.
This little collage is only 8X8, but it sure makes a good presentation.
The papers were hand made and colored by me. They are thicker and better for
this type of collage. It is difficult for me to make paper thin, so I took advantage
of what I had on hand. There are a few minute white beads through the middle of this collage, as well as some gold cord.
This heavier paper will also be good to use in the fabric and paper collages I have been working on.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Happy Birthday to me; My blog is 1 year old today!
Many postings and pictures have been put out there in hopes that
what I have to say will be of interest, or perhaps even be a blessing to some.
Blogging has improved my writing skills, however I still have a long way to go.
If you tune in, and enjoy seeing my artistic creations, let me hear from you. It is hard to believe
that 365 days have gone by. That makes me stop and think about what I am doing with each day. How can I use my time in a more meaningful way? While reading KC's blog here I am reminded about random acts of kindness, and the far reaching effect they can have. I'm starting my 40 days of random acts, how about you?

Peonies
These gorgeous flowers do not bloom in Texas, at least not in my part of Texas.
We are doing good to grow grass right now, with temperatures near 100 every day and no rain in sight.
I had to have some flowers for my window sill so I purchased some of those awful purple daisies at the grocery store. I much prefer their natural color, but I was desperate. Would love to have a little patch of cutting flowers in the yard; I guess I'm dreaming. By the way, these beautiful peonies were plentiful in Indiana a few weeks back.
