Lincoln
I am thankful today for freedom. Saw the very touching movie, Lincoln.
The whole movie was amazing! Be sure to see this; I think everyone from 10 years old to 100 years old would profit from seeing it. A superb job!

A change in season.
It's that time of year to turn our attention on Christmas.
It will be here before we know it.
I made a few ornaments to take to the Taylor Art Guild Sale this Saturday.
I started with a paper mache pear, and embellished with paint and jewels, and ribbon.
They are pretty sparkly even though they don't really show up that way.
Had lunch with some good friends, so I give thanks once again!

Fireside
Today I am most thankful for s'mores!
Remember those girl scout days?
The Hershey bars are a little thinner and the marshmallows
a little smaller, but the method is the same, and they are just as yummy
as they were years ago. Only difference is, since everything is smaller,
you can have 2 instead of one!

Roasted and Salted
Today I am thankful for the plentiful supply of pecans this year.
We have several trees in our yard. There are at least 3 kinds of
pecans, all sizes and shapes. I have used them in baking, and we have eaten plenty.
I wanted to roast some, but did not want to use butter, like most of the
articles on line said to do. One article suggested wetting the pecans in a colander,
shaking the water off, and spreading them on a cookie sheet. I sprinkled sea salt on lightly,
and roasted at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes. They are so good; I know they won't last long.

Pumpkin Bread
Today, I am thankful for food.
Just in time for the holidays, I discovered Libby's Pumpkin bread mix.
Everything is in the box, even the can of pumpkin!
I added roasted pecans and dried cranberries to make it even better.
There was a small bag of icing included, which I did not think it needed.
My critique group thought it was great! Since I have not been painting,
I had to have something for them to critique. :)) We had to eat several pieces
to decide just how good it is.

Writer's Voice
Tonight I am grateful for a beautiful talk that
I attended at Southwestern University.
Suzan-Lori Parks gave an inspiring and
entertaining talk about her journey as
the first African-American woman to receive
the Pulitzer Prize in drama. I have been having
these "coincidences" for a couple of weeks now.
Not sure what is in store for me, but I am open.

Blessing Rings
I had given a friend a "Blessing Ring" awhile back, and now she wants to pass on the blessings!
You hang the ring on a door knob or hook, and add those special blessings and gratitude's
that you want to remember. It could be a a picture, a card, travel brochure, a special prayer; whatever makes you happy.
I have started these rings off with a gratitude quote, a drawing, and some pretty ribbons and beads.
The rest is up to the recipient.

"Art Stuff"
Today I am thankful for this vintage suitcase I found at Market Days!
I have been looking for a long time for just the right size, at the right price.
Today I found both.
I will be planning how I am going to paint and embellish this little jewel.
It will be just what I need to carry art supplies in when I travel to a workshop.

Dusting Slippers
I am so thankful for my "dusting" slippers. We have
hardwood floors, so all I have to do is take a swoop
around the house and my housework is done!
I can then go paint, or whatever. If you need an "upper" today,
go here and read all of the "quirky" gratitudes that people have.

The Great Gratitude Adventure
I am loving The Great Gratitude Adventure !
Something to be thankful for everyday.
Today I am thankful for the freedom to vote,
and dream of a more loving country.
I am also thankful for my wonderful, warm,
neck, back, foot, or wherever you want to put it
wrap! It is warm and cuddly on this cool morning.
There is also a matching therapeutic eye mask! I got mine
from Sew Serene. You can too; sewserene4@yahoo.com.
They make a wonderful, thoughtful gift.
My granddaughter loves her A&M design.
Have a day filled with gratitude.
