Journal

On our recent trip to the beach, we spent the hot afternoons inside making a
journal about our experience. Karen brought her stash of goodies and lead us in this craft.
We all started with a small board book. We used paints, papers, pens, jewels, lots and lots of Mod  Podge and acrylic medium. We also used found objects from the beach. If you just follow your heart and not
worry about it too much, it works out great. Whatever you don't like, you just glue something over it!
Here are a few pages from my journal.

Round Top

This was our first stop on our way to the beach.
Round Top and Warrenton are always fun; you never know what you might find at the Antique Fair.
How about the clock, the numbers marked by garden utensils! The cute birdhouses
were attached to old rakes and hoes, and the "bloom" sign is the bottom of a bird cage.

Surfside Beach

We had a great art retreat at the beach, and actually completed a few projects.
After collecting shells one morning, we dug a hole in the sand and made a flower pot with

Sackcrete. We layered the shells around the side wall, mixed the concrete with water, and with gloved hands, molded it into a bowl shape. After filling the center with sand, we covered it completely,
marked the site with a stick, and let it cure over night. The next day we dug it up and admired the pot.
